And now, we’re excited to announce she will lead our water solutions globally as the new Global Director of Jacobs’ Water Market. She succeeds industry leader, Peter Nicol, who retired in November 2020, after 40 years of service.

In this Growth and Strategy role, Susan will lead our team of more than 6,000 Drinking Water & Reuse, Water Resources, Conveyance & Storage, Wastewater and Industrial Water visionaries and doers to develop innovative, sustainable and technology-enabled solutions for the world’s water challenges. Our water team is committed to providing industry-leading infrastructure, digital and environmental expertise to address complex challenges across drinking water, wastewater, desalination, conveyance and flood control challenges, all within Jacobs’ OneWater approach to water management.

Previously serving as our Conveyance & Storage Global Solutions Director, Susan is a Technology Fellow with more than 30 years of experience in capacity assessments, system integration and flow analysis. She joined Jacobs in 2005 and her experience in wastewater planning and capital project execution includes 16 years with the Cincinnati Metropolitan Sewer District.

“Susan’s passion for her work in the water market and her dedication to advancing the technology expertise and capabilities of Jacobs’ water practitioners has led to the company’s No. 1 industry rankings by several third-party organizations,” says SVP of Growth, Strategy & Solutions Chrissy Thom. “Under Susan’s leadership, Jacobs has earned the ranking of the No. 1 Trenchless Engineering firm for the past five years, and she has spearheaded the team’s focus on significant innovations in this field.”

Over the span of her career, Susan has contributed to the success of some of the industry’s largest and most challenging projects and programs, including London’s Tideway Tunnel Program; the Ocean Outfall Legislation Program with the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department in Florida; and Integrated Wastewater Planning for VCS Denmark.

Active in professional organizations, she currently serves on the Water Environment Federation (WEF) Collection Committee, and previously served on WEF’s Technical Practices Committee and as chair of the Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) Collection Systems Symposia. Susan is a member of the US Water Alliance’s One Water Council; she leads Jacobs’ engagement with the National Association of Clean Water Agencies; and she is a member of the Wet Weather Partnership, a group of Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO) community officials and consultants specializing in CSO control from areas all over the United States.
