Climate response, decarbonization and resilient infrastructure are major challenges of our time, which we must address collaboratively through innovative solutions. As a result of Jacobs’ focus on three strategic growth accelerators – climate response, data solutions and consulting and advisory – we have been awarded five external awards by Environmental Business International (EBI). Administered annually by the Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) and Climate Change Business Journal (CCBJ), these accolades highlight our industry leadership and outstanding performance across our corporate, environmental and climate change portfolio.
EBJ and CCBJ recognized Jacobs for the following achievements:
- EBJ – 50-Year Company Recognition: Awarded to companies who have demonstrated industry leadership for over 50 years.
- EBJ – Technology Merit: PFAS Site Evaluation Toolset: For developing a proprietary (patent-pending) per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) evaluation toolset to map hundreds of PFAS transformation pathways under environmentally relevant conditions, and to identify different PFAS sources and release histories.
- EBJ – Information Technology: Data-Driven Remediation Engineering: For developing the Alluvial analytics platform that provides a foundation for data-driven remediation engineering. Alluvial serves as a cornerstone for digital delivery and is a fundamental part of Jacobs' innovative cloud-connected operations and maintenance approach.
- CCBJ – Project Merit: Climate Change Adaptation & Resilience: For teaming with Michigan Department of Transportation (DOT), Michigan Office of Future Mobility and Electrification, City of Detroit, Next Energy and Electreon to deploy one of the first public wireless and in-road wireless systems for charging electric vehicles in the U.S.
- CCBJ – Green House Gas Mitigation: For significantly enhancing the overall understanding of nature-based solutions implementation in carbon sequestration projects for a global energy company.
“In a year of strong growth and financial performance for the environmental industry in 2023, a number of companies set themselves apart with performance, transactions or projects that merit special recognition,” says Grant Ferrier, editor of Environmental Business Journal and chair of the selection committee. “With energy transition, climate resilience and new federal programs driving business, as well as traditional environmental market drivers in infrastructure, air quality, remediation, water and wastewater, it is understandable that most companies report growing demand for environmental and climate response technology and solutions.”
